Elisabeta and Ferro are such an enchanting and unique couple. Their relationship dynamic is different from a lot of the other pairings in previous books, as Ferro is an ancient who has been locked away from the world for centuries in the monastery and Elisabeta has been a prisoner for most of her life.

I really loved seeing Ferro bring out Elisabeta’s strength. He is willing and ready to be her shield but wants her to find her confidence in herself again after it was taken away from her by Sergey Malinov. I don’t want to spoil the details of this book, but Feehan threw in a couple of surprising parts that made this not seem like a repeat of the previously used storylines.

I’m wondering when the storyline will travel back to some of the other continents, as the books have been set in the American compound for a while. I’d love to see what's been happening with some of the other characters in South America or in the Carpathian mountains. Another story like Dark Celebration would be so much fun, as I’d love to see what some of my other favorite pairings have been up to.

With regards to the narrator Jim Frangione, he does a good job of bringing the story to life. He also does very well with the Carpathian language pronunciation and making it sound fluid and natural. I do wish that there were separate narrators for the different series, as it is kind of weird to have the same person narrate every series. Having different narrators for each series would help differentiate them.
